Hello, I’m Rosie! I’m a percussionist, songwriter, singer, producer, and teacher originally from Missoula, MT, but now playing and living in Spokane, WA! I have over 12 years of percussion experience. I’m super passionate about drums and percussion and love helping people pursue their dreams of playing these awesome instruments.
I am originally from Missoula, MT, where I started playing drums in 5th grade band and never put them down once I started. I took private lessons starting in 8th grade, which made me fall even more in love with percussion. Throughout middle school and high school I played in symphonic bands, orchestras, and jazz bands, and went on to do all of it in college as well.
I was also a part of the All State Band all 4 years of high school, and played in the National Honors band twice.
I got a degree in Percussion Performance from the University of Montana, where I played in every single ensemble that had percussion in it. I studied classical and orchestral percussion, jazz drum set and vibraphone, marching percussion, steel pan, hand drumming, and Balinese Gamelan. Some highlights from my time in school were being the jazz drummer for our the top big band for two years (2018-2020), winning the yearly Concerto Aria Competition with Movement 3 of Concerto No. 3 for Vibraphone and Orchestra by Florian Poser (2020), and being named the Presser Scholar of the entire music school (2019).
In addition to being a drummer and percussionist, I am also a singer, songwriter, and producer. I got a minor in Media Arts where I mainly focused on music production and sonic art. I released my debut album in January called “the how & the why” which I wrote, recorded, mixed, and produced entirely myself. As an instructor, my objective is always to make people as excited about playing as possible! I love working with all skill levels and want to help you reach your musical dreams, whether it’s being a professional drummer, figuring out how to write and record your drum parts to make your first song, or learning how to play covers of your favorite tunes for your cat in your bedroom.
