History
My musical journey began at the age of five. While at a garage sale with my Grandma, we found a mini-drumset, I jumped hysterically, and she brought it home (what did my parents do to deserve this?). Inspired by the music my dad’s band rehearsed in our basement (Bob Burdett, you may know as the sales and repair guy at Mark’s Guitar Shop), and the awe of the drums ability to make you want to dance and move, I remained self-motivated in pursuing drums as a passion.
Paper Route money and a birthday set me up with a full sized kit at age 12 and I was off and runnin’. I performed at school in 6th grade, though unable to join school band until 7th grade. I played to whatever I could find, ZZ Top, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Van Halen, and many others.
My musical education really rooted itself beginning in 7th grade. I was picked to be in the top of 7th and 8th graders at Sacajawea Middle School in Spokane, out of 144 drummers that registered. Private lessons and continued Symphonic, Jazz, Latin, Orchestra, Marching, and Pep Bands kept me busy through grade 12 eventually Lettering in Band. I was also chosen to partake in the All City Orchestra, competed in solo and ensemble competitions, and received several awards and honors, and eventually graduating Lewis and Clark High School. I then joined the Commercial Music Program at SFCC, Spokane Falls Community College.
My Work
Two weeks before my 19th Birthday, I began performing with the local band Crosstown Traffic. I performed steady for over three years playing almost every weekend. I cut my teeth with this band. My personal style began to be refined. I wrote and recorded original music with the band 50fifty. It featured my brother Casey on bass guitar, guitar and vocals by Nate Corning and lead guitar by Jim Scollard. We were together for three years. Playing in dozens of bands since, including the Coeur D’ Alene Resort’s house bands: Manito, The Radio Sun and Satellite. I have performed on many CD’s recorded at various studios and I am atop the list of fill in drummer for many prominent local cover and original bands. I toured and recorded with outlaw Texas country artist, Robbie Walden Band.
For Hire
I pride myself on being a FIRST CALL drummer and a favorite last minute fill-in. This takes the right touch and the right personality. If it’s on your list, I’ve probably played it 😉
